Advertising Isn’t a Major Growth Driver For Top News Publishers

The New York Times and News Corp are two prime case studies in how news publishers are evolving to be less reliant on ad revenue.

Both publishers reported their most recent earnings on Wednesday (Q4 for The New York Times, Q2 for News Corp, which operates on a different fiscal calendar than most). And both publishers reported stronger growth in subscriptions than in digital ads. (Ad Exchanger)
