Next season, major league baseball players could be sporting some of the most powerful sensors to-date and you would never know it. Biomechanics company Motus has just launched a five-sensor, wearable system that claims to measure up to 100 metrics points of stress on joints–more than the other performance-enhancing wearable out there. One of the pea-size sensors is placed near the elbow (the ulnar collateral ligament), three in a compression shirt, and then one on the player’s cleat. They pick up data points including stride, rotation, pelvic rotation, that kinetic chain and how much stress is being imparted to the arm.
